Hi,

In the past three years I've had a few people tell me I could "build an AI model" off my newsletters.

"You won't have to write anything yourself anymore! It will sound just like you!"

Roughly every year or so I give it a try. Usually when someone has told me enough times that this NEW AI model has changed the game. This time it's real, this time it's going to be amazing, trust me bro!

So I train it on my materials from the past. I've tried every variation. It doesn't matter how much data you cram into the model.

It always produces pure slop.

Every. Single. Time.

There are two possible explanations for this:

1) My writing is just pure slop and I'm deluding myself into thinking otherwise.

2) AI does not create anything. It just rehashes what you give it, resulting in some kind of weird wordsmoothie that vaguely resembles some things you said in the past.

(I'm pretty sure its the 2nd one. But it's hard to tell, you know? Maybe it's some kind of blind spot.)

I do have a point though.

AI will never be more creative than a human being. If AI can out-write you, out-creative you, out-sell you... you haven't put enough skillpoints in that particular skill. Because it's not hard to outperform a machine in tasks that are not suited for a machine.

We use AI all the time for tasks that are extremely suited for a machine. Automating processes,

But human to human? That's a human task. And no computer will ever outperform you in that.
